Ah, English composition 1, how I love and loathe you. Love you for the sake of writing and the actually interesting text book you give me. Loathe you for the actual class itself, well not the entirity of the class, just when I'm forced to read my peer groups essays and when my teacher and I don't see eye to eye. The whole teacher thing is better, she's turned out to be pretty awesome and a nice person with my the technology-hates-me issue. My peer group though makes me want to rip my hair out when I read their essays. I mean how hard is it to write a 3-4 page paper in double spaced 12 point times new roman on the career path you're majoring in. Seriously how hard can that be. I wrote my first draft in two hours while I was eating my lunch. Appearantly its impossible, given three weeks to complete this essay my entire peer group, including me but my choicesportal refused to up load it for two, turns it in less than an hour before our class. The assignment was originally due the week before Halloween, so that we could have fun on Halloween (proof she can be awesome when she wants too). Then no one turns it in so she extends it to today. My entire thought processto this was 'Holy crap high school ap teachers would have gone your screwed by this point.." She is also allowing the finally draft of our previous essay to be turned in by midnight for full credit, when it was due oh way before this draft was assigned.
Well I lost my train of thought off the track. My original complaint was and still is my peer groups writing skills. I previously explained the assignment we reviewed was a 3-4 page informative essay on the career you want based on your major in 12 point time new roman font and double space it. Sounds very simple doesn't it; research, write, probably copy and paste statistics from the web or an old essay you wrote on the same topic in high school. Appearantly my peer group missed several major points. Like the fact only one of the four others in my group wrote the required length. I'm also pretty sure I was the only one to get the 12 point font memo. One wrote in 16 point double spaced font with only a page in length. When you correct the font size it turns into only a third page paper. The rest of my group wrote in 14 point font. I just hope they dont have the brainless idea of turning in these as their final drafts. Example the girl with the wonderfull to turn in her 'final draft' in18 point font triple spaced to make it 4 pages. Il give you and example of how it looked.
Hi I dont know how to follow instructions
My topic is Nursing.
See how thats basically cheating your length requirement. Our teacher did inform this girl to rewrite her essay and spell check also. I wonder how these people got through High School when they can't follow stupid directions about font spacing and length. Last I checked every assignment in High school thats typed had the same 12 point font double spaced requirements or did I go to a special school. I just cant wait until the semester ends and I can move on to comp2.
